Movie Story

Chiru finally fulfilled his wish of doing a full-length mythological with this film that was produced by Chinni Films and directed by K. Raghavendra Rao. The film did well in the original Kannada version, but managed average business in Telugu. sri manjunatha movie review Manjunatha (Arjun), who is named after the Lord (Chiru), is an atheist. However, he is a good man, who helps the unfortunate. Because of his goodness, Lord Shiva feels that he is the perfect vessel for the Lord’s plan on earth. One day, he meets a girl (Soundarya), who is a great devotee of Shiva. After several meetings, they marry and have a child, Siddu. Manju is finally converted to a devotee, but faces hardships as his earlier enemies blame him for the lights in the Shiva temple going out and serving food on the same day his son had been killed by his enemies. However, Lord Shiva in his many disguises comes to rescue. Finally, Manju and his wife die and their souls are integrated with the Lord. Nara Jayasridevi, producer of this film, in an interview with the telugu TV program, “Shubodayam,” said that Chiru was selected because of his right looks, acting talent, and incredible dancing ability. The Megastar delivered on all counts. This is one of his finest performances. Whether he played the all-merciful Lord, the crude, irritating old beggar, or the great, powerful sage, Aghora, Chiru was just magnificent. He delineated the characters excellently. He showed once again how extremely versatile he is. Chiru’s dancing was again wonderful. His Ananda Thandavam was great to see. While watching him dance, the audience feels they are watching Lord Shiva dance. Soundarya, as the great devotee was absolutely brilliantly. No words can describe how great she was in this film. Arjun gives one of his most sensitive and versatile performances. He was just truely great. The rest of the cast of Sumalatha, Bramhanandam, etc were good as well. Graphics, sets, and costumes were impressive and made the film rich. Music by Hamsalekha is hard on the ears at first, but after a couple of times, is pleasant. The breathless song, “Om Mahaprana Deepam,” by Shankar Mahadevan is unbelievable. His range and versatility were beautiful. The songs were picturized wonderfully. K. Raghavendra Rao did a so-so job. It seemed he followed the blueprint of Annamaya for this film. However, unlike having some vulgar scenes in Annamaya, Manjunatha was neatly done. But Rao should have taken more care regarding Chiru’s makeup as Shiva. Though he does look good, at times it looks overdone. The makeup for the beggar role and for Aghora was perfect. Despite that, it is an overall good film.Stalin (Chiranjeevi) is a Major in the Indian Army. He returns to the society as the Colonel (Mukesh Rishi) transfers him to administrative division from the battlefield in the name of disciplinary action. After returning from the Army, he stays with his mother (Sharada Urvashi). Stalin keeps helping a physically challenged girl Sumati to write her Intermediate examination and her suicide disturbs him. The death occurs as none of the people around her extend help. Then Stalin plans a chain system. The theme works on a principle that everyone should help others and in return they should not seek a mere thanks but tell those who get the help to help three more, with a condition that those who get help from them should also demand the same. Stalin thinks that this chain will develop helping attitude among the people. But, to his dismay, Stalin finds that the chain did not work. On one occasion, Stalin bashes a rich boy, who injured a beggar. This goes in chain reaction and the rich boy employs some goons to attack Stalin. As Stalin disappears from the scene, the goons take Stalin's sister (Khushboo) and friend Chitra (Trisha) into their custody. Stalin reaches the spot and hacks the hand of one goon. That goon happens to be the henchman of an MLA (Pradeep Rawat) who is also the son-in-law of Home Minister Muddu Krishnayya (Prakash Raj). The Home Minister takes it as a prestige issue and tries to eliminate Stalin but loses his son (Riaz Khan) in the process. When the Chief Minister intervenes to bring in a patch-up, the crooked Muddukrishnayya plans to kill him and implicate Stalin in the murder. But Stalin takes away the injured Paul Matteo and saves him. But, Stalin gets a severe chest pain due to exertion. The reason for the chest pain is a bullet, which remained in his chest, very near to the heart. Stalin sustains the bullet injury in the Kargil war and that was why the Colonel shifts him to administrative department. Finally the truth prevails and the Chief Minister returns to the hospital to visit Stalin, that the help three people concept was his brainchild, which saved him from death in the form of a school girl. Finally, the doctors successfully remove the bullet, in a very delicate surgery. Stalin comes to know that his "help three people" concept worked well and the same theme saved his life in the form of auto driver. He thanks all the people for making his concept a success.
